Cresselly Cricket Club took on the Lords and Commons Cricket Team for the first time in history – and helped raise nearly £600 for charity.
Simon Hart MP organised the match and was joined by neighbouring Plaid Cymru MP Jonathan Edwards from Carmarthen East and Dinefwr and Conservative MP Richard Graham from Gloucester. Casualty star Charles Dale from Tenby kept wicket for the Lords and Commons XI.
“After the disappointment of having to cancel because of the weather last September it was wonderful to go ahead this time and I am very grateful to Cresselly Cricket Club for all their hard work,” said Mr Hart.
Valero sponsored the event £1 per run which meant that more than £500 was “earned” on the day. The Professional Cricketers Association also donated a bat signed by the England Cricket Team worth £250 which will be auctioned at a later date.
“The official result was that Cresselly won by 46 runs,” said Mr Hart, “but the real winner was the Tom Maynard Trust which helps young cricketers and I’m delighted that we raised so much money for them.”
