LOCAL POLITICIANS TAKE PATIENT CONCERNS TO ARGYLE STREET SURGERY
Local Conservative politicians Simon Hart MP and Angela Burns AM have met bosses at Pembroke Dock’s Argyle Street surgery to discuss patient concerns about difficulty in accessing a GP.
“I am getting a significant number of people contacting me to explain how difficult it is to make an appointment at the surgery,” explained Mr Hart.
“Patients are full of praise for the service they get once they have their appointment, but many remain concerned that they can’t get through on the phone, large early morning queues or if that the on-line appointment system can only be accessed after midnight.
Mr Hart and Mrs Burns were asked to meet senior partners from the surgery to discuss what they are doing to improve the situation. The surgery is by far the largest in Wales and currently is two and a half doctors short-staffed.
Mr Hart added: “We were very grateful to the staff and doctors for their time and openness and we discussed a number of options, including ways of recruiting more GPs and nurse practitioners. We were left in no doubt that this is an absolute priority for the surgery and we will be keeping a close eye on the situation.”
