Simon Hart MP is giving local residents a chance to get creative – by designing his annual Christmas card or taking an image for his calendar.

Every primary school child in Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire has been invited to design his Christmas card – and the winning pupil will receive 50 cards for themselves and 500 cards for their school.

The winner of the calendar competition will see their photo printed on the 36,000 calendars that go out to every household in the constituency.

“We had a stunning image taken at Wiseman’s Bridge by Sam Davies from Reynalton for this year’s calendar and I am sure that there are plenty more lovely photos for us to choose from,” said Mr Hart.

“The invites have gone out for the Christmas card competition and we are already getting entries.

“Children can paint or draw or use whatever medium they want, I am inviting a respected local artist to judge the anonymous entries for me and the winning design will be printed on to a card with a bilingual greeting,” he added.

“The winner will get 50 cards for their own use, and their school will get 500 free cards and envelopes to sell for school fundraising or a charity of their choice.”

Last year’s competition was won by nine-year-old Holly John from Llanmiloe School near Pendine.

Mr Hart added: “Last year’s design was a really beautiful, bright image which worked very well - I can’t wait to see how creative our children can be this year.”

*To enter the calendar competition send your jpeg to or to enter the card competition send your design on an A4 sheet of white paper (preferably unfolded) to Office of Simon Hart MP, 15 St John’s Street, Whitland, Carmarthenshire, SA34 OAN with your name, age and contact details on the back.
