Simon is the Member of Parliament for Carmarthen West and Pembrokeshire South.
He was selected by a large majority at an open meeting in September 2007 which was attended by over 250 local people of all political persuasions.
Simon is aged 46 and lives in Llanmill near Narberth. He is married to Abigail who was born in Carmarthen and who runs a small business selling children's clothes in Pembrokeshire. They have two young children who both go to Tavernspite CP School.
Simon was until recently Chief Executive of the Countryside Alliance, Europe's largest rural affairs lobby group. He previously worked as a chartered surveyor in Carmarthen and Haverfordwest for just over ten years and served with the Territorial Army for five years.
His current role has given Simon the opportunity to campaign on the issues that matter to rural communities and to develop a practical understanding of the differences between rural and urban life and the challenges they both present to the people who live there.
Locally, Simon is involved in a range of activities such as being a Governor of Tavernspite CP School and a member of Cresselly Cricket Club.
As a local man, Simon knows what is important to the residents of Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire. He works closely with Angela Burns, the local Welsh Assembly Member, to campaign on the issues at the heart of the constituency.
Simon's political ambitions have always been for this seat. He is a local man with national experience who wants to channel his commitment into the community in which he and his family live.
